Ingredients:

1 box white cake mix (OPTIONAL: substitute water for whole milk & add 2 tsp vanilla & 1/2 cup of sour cream or plain yogurt)

2 tsp matcha powder

Splash of warm water


Strawberry Buttercream:

2 sticks unsalted butter (room temp)

3½-4 cups powdered sugar(adjust for consistency)

1 tbsp strawberry extract

1-2 tablespoons heavy cream (as needed)

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pink food color


Vanilla buttercream (for decorating)

Sugar pearls

Piping tips: 352, 30, 18, 10


Instructions:


For the cake:

1. Prepare cake mix as directed and divide batter evenly into 2 bowls.


2. In one bowl, whisk 2 tsp matcha with a splash of warm water, then stir it into the batter.


3. Line two 6-inch pans with parchment. Alternate scoops of each batter in the center to create a bullseye pattern.


4. Bake as directed on the cake mix box. Cool completely, then trim and level the cakes.


5. Make your strawberry buttercream.


6. Stack and fill the cake with strawberry buttercream.
