Strawberry Buttercream — A Sweet Pink Dream

Is there anything prettier (or more delicious) than a swirl of soft pink strawberry buttercream? I don’t think so! Whether you’re frosting cupcakes, cakes, or even sneaking a spoonful straight from the bowl (guilty!), this strawberry buttercream is one of my absolute favorites.

It’s light, fluffy, perfectly sweet, and bursting with real strawberry flavor — no artificial pink mystery frosting here. And the best part? It’s surprisingly easy to make.

Where My Strawberry Buttercream Obsession Began

Funny story — my love for strawberry buttercream actually started with a baking fail. A few years ago, I made a strawberry cake and the frosting? Well… let’s just say it looked pink but tasted like sugar air. Zero strawberry flavor.

After that, I became determined to make a strawberry frosting that not only looked pretty but actually tasted like juicy, sweet strawberries. And once I figured it out? Game over. Now, this buttercream makes an appearance at nearly every birthday, bake sale, or “just because” baking day in my house.

What Makes This Strawberry Buttercream So Good?

This isn’t your average overly sweet, artificial-tasting frosting. We’re using real ingredients for real flavor:

Freeze-Dried Strawberries — For that vibrant strawberry punch without watering down your buttercream.

Creamy Butter — Whipped to perfection for the fluffiest texture.

Just the Right Sweetness — Powdered sugar keeps things light, while the strawberries do the heavy lifting in the flavor department.

The result? A gorgeous naturally pink frosting that’s perfect for piping, spreading, or sandwiching between cake layers.

In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, mix the butter, vanilla and freeze dried strawberry powder on medium speed until combined.

Turn the mixer on low and add the powdered sugar, scraping the sides after each cup is mixed in. (I like to start with 3 cups and add more if needed)
